Jonia Creations

Jonia Creations is a handicraft business founded in Bolgatanga town in the Upper East Region of Ghana. Bolgatanga is referred to as the handicrafts center of Northern Ghana, and is famous for its intricately designed and hand woven straw Bolga baskets, hats, smocks and leather products.

Our business focuses on the vast skill of artisans within the Bolgatanga Municipality to provide a wide range of high quality, handcrafted products that are fairly traded in order to make ends meet for our weavers who rely solely on these baskets for their livelihood. There are a lot of skills, patience and love poured into each and every basket produced from Bolga

Our Communities Across the Region

To leverage on our team’s expertise to provide quality baskets and handcraft to our
clients in the international and local market. At Jonia Creations, we do not see a client as a coolie to be driven but as a consumer to be satisfied.

We realize that the client is the most important part of the production line in our business; we therefore take on our tasks with pride, joy and self motivation, driven by the smile of satisfaction on the faces of our clients and above all great expertise exhibited by great professionals.

Meet the Versatile Team

Our team, led by Jonah Aniire Ayinga who has over fifteen years of experience in the basket market and has participated in quite a number of international fairs, collectively has significant experience in rural small business, rural women groups’ formation, products development and market needs assessment capacity in the art industry. Indeed our Bolga Baskets are genuinely and exclusively woven by the indigenous people of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana. For many generations,
weaving has been a traditional skill.

The infertile soil and unfavorable weather conditions in the area is not ideal for agricultural based farming therefore the people of
Bolgatanga have found basket weaving an alternate means of making a living. In addition, our team combines an appropriate mix of skills driven largely by our quality educational and professional qualifications and the hands-on experience gained from participation in diversified and challenging assignments over the years across different industries in a number of institutions.
